July 2007 #2 Washington County's economic picture is bright, says Tim Troxell, Executive Director of the Hagerstown/Washington County Economic Development Commission office.
Troxell talks about projects on the horizon for the Copu8nty, projects on thne bubble, the process involved in ":landing" new business and industry in the County, and the conversion of the Fort Ritchie complex to a high-tech, high-security commercial/retail.industrial site that could bring 4.500 jobs to the county.

NEWS!--Washington County citizens may now pay their property taxes on-line. Accounting Supervisor Daryl Brown talks about that new e-service.
Board of County Commissioners' President John Barr is a successful businessman who brings that acumen to County government. Barr talks about goals and directions for government, what he's learned about County Government during the first 6 months of office, about the complex issues this Board is facing including the excise tax and funding for education.

June 2007 #2 County Administrator Greg Murray worked his way up through the ranks, and was appointed to the post in February 2007. He serves as a member of the Governor's Task Force on water quality for Maryland, has authored state regulations, and is widely respected for his knowledge of environmental issues. Murray talks about the recently completed budget, about the new Department of Environmental Management, and on directions County government will take over the next 4 years.

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners took a balanced budget totaling $309 million to public hearing on May 22nd. Summer means fun in Washington County Parks and Recrea5tion programs. Jim Sterling, Director of Buildings, Grounds and P{arks talks about the 19 parks he manages and where the program is heading.
Recreation Offerings are held all over Washington County. A highlight of each summer's recreation programs are the Play camps for kids, held in park settings. Recreation Director Jaime Dick talks about summer program offerings, many free to the public. 14:49

A number of administrative changes have been put into place by the new Board of County Commissioners, among them creation of the new Division of Environmental Management, creation of the Director of Special Projects post and realignment of the Division of Public Works. As former DPW head Gary Rohrer takes on Special Projects, former Deputy Director Joe Kroboth steps up to take charge of the Division thast encompasses Highways, Enineering, Transportation. and Communications Maintenance as well as Solid Waste, Water Quality and Buildings, Grounds asnd Parks. Kroboth talks about the challenges he sees ahead. 14:12
